Battle of Kasahrada

1178 · 12th century

The Battle of Kasahrada was fought in 1178 near Mount Abu in present-day Rajasthan, where the Chaulukya army of Gujarat, led in the name of the young king Mularaja II, defeated the Ghurid sultan Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad. It was his first major defeat in India and turned Ghurid expansion towards the Punjab, where he took Lahore in 1186.
