Punjab
The Punjab is a region of the north-western Indian subcontinent, divided today between Pakistan and India, named after its five rivers. It was a frontier province of the Delhi Sultanate, whose governor invited Babur's invasion. After the decline of Mughal authority it became the heartland of the Sikh Empire under Ranjit Singh.
