Kashmir
Kashmir is a mountainous region in the north of the Indian subcontinent, famed for its shawls. Ranjit Singh conquered it for the Sikh Empire, and its revenues and trade were important to the empire. After the First Anglo-Sikh War it was lost and transferred to Gulab Singh under the Treaty of Amritsar of 1846.
