Battle of Laupen

1339 · 14th century

The Battle of Laupen was fought on 21 June 1339 near Laupen, west of Bern, between Bern, supported by troops from the Forest Cantons, and a coalition of regional nobles allied with the city of Fribourg. Bern's victory secured its expansion and drew it closer to the Swiss Confederacy, which it joined in 1353.
