Battle of Neville's Cross

1346 · 14th century · Part of the Second War of Scottish Independence

The Battle of Neville's Cross was fought on 17 October 1346 near Durham, when David II of Scotland invaded England in support of France after the English victory at Crécy. An English army raised in the northern counties defeated the Scots, and David II was captured and held in England for eleven years until he was ransomed by the Treaty of Berwick in 1357.
