Battle of Riade
The Battle of Riade was fought in March 933, probably near the Unstrut river in Thuringia, between King Henry the Fowler of East Francia and a Magyar raiding army. Henry had used a nine-year truce to build fortifications and train armoured cavalry, and when he refused further tribute the Magyars invaded and were routed. The victory raised the prestige of the Saxon dynasty, although Magyar raids continued until Otto I's victory at the Lechfeld in 955.
