Battle of the Hekatombaion

226 BCE · 3rd century BCE · Part of the Cleomenean War

The Battle of the Hekatombaion was fought in 226 BCE near Dyme in western Achaea, where Cleomenes III of Sparta crushed the full army of the Achaean League. Coming after earlier defeats at Mount Lykaion and Ladokeia, the disaster convinced Aratus of Sicyon to seek help from Antigonus III Doson of Macedon, at the price of handing over Acrocorinth.
