Bazar (Poznań)

1841 · 19th century · Also known as Bazar Poznański

The Bazar is a hotel and commercial building in Poznań, Poland, opened in 1841 on the initiative of the physician and social activist Karol Marcinkowski as a centre of Polish economic and cultural life in Prussian Posen. It housed shops, a hotel and Polish societies, and in December 1918 Ignacy Paderewski spoke from it, an event that sparked the Greater Poland Uprising.
