Beiyang government
The Beiyang government was the internationally recognised government of the Republic of China seated in Beijing from 1912 to 1928, dominated by officers of the Beiyang Army built up by Yuan Shikai under the Qing. After Yuan's death in 1916 rival cliques of warlords fought for control of it. The Kuomintang's Northern Expedition ended it in 1928.
