Belsky family
The Belskys were a princely family descended from Algirdas, Grand Duke of Lithuania, through his son Vladimir, and named after their appanage of Bely. Prince Fyodor Belsky fled from Lithuania to Moscow in 1482 and married a niece of Ivan III, giving the family high rank among the boyars. During the minority of Ivan IV, Ivan Fyodorovich Belsky led the court from 1540 until the rival Shuiskys overthrew him in 1542; the senior line died out in 1571.
