Berdibeg

d. 1359 · 14th century · Also known as Berdi Beg

Berdibeg was khan of the Golden Horde from 1357 to 1359. He seized the throne after the death of his father Jani Beg, whom he is said to have murdered, and killed many of his brothers to secure his position. His own murder in 1359 ended the line of Batu and opened two decades of civil war known as the Great Troubles.
