Black Death
The Black Death was the pandemic of plague that swept across Eurasia and North Africa in the mid-fourteenth century, killing a large share of the population. It spread along the trade routes linked by the Pax Mongolica. The epidemic weakened the Ilkhanate and the Yuan Dynasty, damaged the economy and governance of the Mamluk Sultanate, and is also cited in the histories of the Chagatai Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
