Book of the Covenant
The Book of the Covenant is the name scholars give to the collection of laws in the Book of Exodus (chapters 20 to 23) in the Hebrew Bible. Its provisions on injury, property and slavery closely parallel earlier Mesopotamian law codes, especially the Code of Hammurabi. It is cited as a channel through which the legal legacy of the Babylonian Empire reached later Western legal thought.
