Brahmanas
The Brahmanas are Vedic prose texts, composed roughly between 900 and 700 BCE, that explain the meaning and correct performance of the sacrificial rituals of the four Vedas. Attached to particular Vedic schools, they include the Aitareya and Shatapatha Brahmanas, and they contain myths, accounts of kings such as Janamejaya and early speculation that leads into the Upanishads. They are a key source for the society of the Kuru and Panchala realms.
