Brahmanism

Also known as Brahmanical Hinduism

Brahmanism is the name given to the Vedic tradition of religion and social order maintained by Brahmin priests, centred on sacrifice, ritual purity, Sanskrit learning and the hierarchy of the varnas. In early medieval India kings such as the Varmans and Senas of Bengal promoted it by granting land to Brahmins and patronising scholars of Vedic ritual and law.
