Branford, Connecticut
Branford is a town on Long Island Sound in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States, east of New Haven. Settled in 1644 by colonists from Wethersfield, it joined the New Haven Colony. Unhappy with the colony's merger into Connecticut in 1665, many of its settlers left with the minister Abraham Pierson to found Newark in New Jersey.
