Bregaglia
Bregaglia, in German Bergell, is an Italian-speaking alpine valley in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, running from the Maloja Pass down to Chiavenna in Italy. It belonged to the Prince-Bishopric of Chur and joined the League of God's House, and its route over the Maloja linked the Engadine with Lombardy. The painter Giovanni Segantini and the Giacometti family of artists worked there.
