Bugey
The Bugey is a historical region in the Ain department of eastern France, between the Jura mountains and the Rhône, with Belley as its chief town. Long held by the counts and dukes of Savoy, it was ceded to France with Bresse and Gex by the Treaty of Lyon in 1601 in exchange for the Marquisate of Saluzzo.
