Bunnag family

Also known as House of Bunnag

The Bunnag family was a noble family of Siam, descended from the Persian merchant Sheikh Ahmad who settled in Ayutthaya in the early seventeenth century. Its members held the great ministries of the Rattanakosin court for much of the nineteenth century, and Si Suriyawong governed as regent for the young Chulalongkorn from 1868 to 1873, before the king curbed the family's power.
