Caicos Islands
The Caicos Islands are the larger of the two island groups of the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British overseas territory south-east of the Bahamas. They include Providenciales, North, Middle, East, South and West Caicos. After 1783 Loyalists from the American colonies set up cotton plantations there worked by enslaved Africans, which failed within a few decades, and the islands now live mainly from tourism.
