Jamaica
Jamaica is a Caribbean island that was a British colony from the seventeenth century until 1962, with a plantation economy based on enslaved labour. It adopted the Westminster parliamentary model inherited from the British Empire. The Rastafari movement, which emerged there in the 1930s, revered Haile Selassie, extending the Ethiopian Empire's symbolic influence.
