Westminster system
The Westminster system is the model of parliamentary government developed in the United Kingdom, in which the executive is drawn from and accountable to an elected legislature. It includes a ceremonial head of state, a prime minister and cabinet, and an official opposition. It was adopted by the self-governing dominions and many former colonies, making it one of the empire's most enduring legacies.
