Commonwealth of Nations
The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntary association of independent states, most of them former territories of the British Empire. It evolved from the self-governing dominions of the empire in the first half of the twentieth century. It provided a framework for continued cooperation after decolonisation and is also mentioned in connection with former colonies of the Italian Empire that later passed through British administration.
