Ethiopian Empire
The Ethiopian Empire was the Christian monarchy of the Ethiopian highlands that lasted from the restoration of the Solomonic dynasty in 1270 until the deposition of Haile Selassie in 1974. It survived the Adal invasion in the sixteenth century, defeated Italy at Adwa in 1896 and, after Italian occupation, was restored in 1941.
