Cakaudrove Province

Cakaudrove is a province of Fiji covering south-eastern Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby islands, traditionally ruled by the Tui Cakau from Somosomo. In the 19th century it was one of the leading powers of eastern Fiji, and in 1867 its chiefs joined Enele Maʻafu of Lau and the chiefs of Bua in the Tovata confederacy. It became a province of the British colony after the cession of Fiji in 1874.
