Catania
Catania is a city on the east coast of Sicily at the foot of Mount Etna, founded as the Greek colony of Catana in 729 BCE and known to the Romans as Catina. It has repeatedly been damaged by Etna and earthquakes; after the eruption of 1669 and the earthquake of 1693 it was rebuilt in Baroque style. It is the second city of Sicily.
