Caudini
The Caudini were one of the four Samnite peoples of ancient Italy, living around Caudium in the hills between Campania and Samnium, near modern Montesarchio. The nearby pass of the Caudine Forks, where a Roman army surrendered in 321 BCE, takes its name from them. They were absorbed by Rome after the Samnite Wars.
