Cavaillon
Cavaillon is a town on the Durance in Provence, southern France, the Cabellio of the Cavares and a Roman colony, where a small Roman arch survives. It belonged to the papal Comtat Venaissin until 1791 and was one of the four towns where the 'Pope's Jews' were allowed to live; its 18th-century synagogue survives. It is famous for its melons.
