Person
Chandrakanta Singha
Chandrakanta Singha was a king of the Ahom kingdom of Assam who reigned from 1811 to 1818 and again from 1819 to 1821, in a period of court intrigue and foreign intervention. Placed on the throne as a boy by the minister Purnananda Burhagohain, he was deposed by a rival faction and restored with Burmese help, before a further Burmese invasion drove him out and turned Assam into a Burmese-ruled province until the First Anglo-Burmese War.
