Chandrapur
Chandrapur, historically Chanda, is a city in eastern Maharashtra, India, near the confluence of the Wardha and Erai rivers. It was the capital of the Gond kingdom of Chanda from the 15th or 16th century, and its stone walls and the Mahakali temple date from that period. The kingdom fell to the Bhonsles of Nagpur around 1751. The district is today a major coal-mining area.
