Charles Liénard de l'Olive
Charles Liénard de l'Olive was a French colonist who, with Jean du Plessis d'Ossonville, led the first French settlement of Guadeloupe in June 1635 for the Compagnie des Îles de l'Amérique. The settlers suffered famine and disease, and after du Plessis died he governed the colony alone and waged a harsh war against the Kalinago inhabitants. He was later replaced as governor by Jean Aubert.
