Chrysocheir
Chrysocheir was the last leader of the Paulicians of Tephrike, a nephew and son-in-law of Karbeas, whom he succeeded in 863. Allied with the Arab emirs of the frontier, he led deep raids into Byzantine Anatolia, reaching Nicaea and Ephesus around 869, and rejected the peace terms offered by Basil I. He was killed at the Battle of Bathys Ryax, after which Paulician power collapsed.
