Colmar

Colmar is a town in Alsace, in eastern France. Near it, in 833 CE, the army of Louis the Pious deserted to his rebellious sons, an episode known as the "Field of Lies". The humiliation of the emperor illustrated the internal conflicts that divided the Carolingian Empire.
