Burgundy
Burgundy is a historical region of eastern France and the name of a powerful late medieval duchy whose lands also included the Low Countries. Through the marriage of Mary of Burgundy to Maximilian of Habsburg, the Burgundian inheritance passed to the Habsburgs. It formed part of the territories inherited by Charles V, contributing to the foundation of the Spanish Empire's European dominions.
