Burgundians

The Burgundians were an East Germanic people who crossed the Rhine in the early 5th century and founded a kingdom as Roman allies around 411, traditionally centred on Worms. After its destruction by Hunnic troops in Roman service in 436, the survivors were settled in Sapaudia around Geneva in 443, where they built a new kingdom in the Rhône and Saône valleys. The Franks conquered it in 534, and its name lives on in Burgundy.
