Sapaudia

Sapaudia was a late Roman name for a region around Geneva and Lake Geneva, in present-day Switzerland and France. In 443 the Roman general Aetius resettled the surviving Burgundians there, and from this base they built a kingdom in the Rhône valley. The name is the origin of Savoy.
