Lake Geneva

Also known as Lake of Geneva, Lac Léman, Lake Leman

Lake Geneva is a large lake on the north side of the Alps, shared between Switzerland and France, through which the Rhône flows. Geneva lies at its south-western end and Lausanne on its northern shore. In the Middle Ages the house of Savoy held lands along much of its shore, including the Chablais and the Vaud, which Bern conquered in 1536.
