Lausanne
Lausanne is a city on the northern shore of Lake Geneva, the capital of the Swiss canton of Vaud. It was the seat of a bishopric from about 600, and its bishops ruled the town as princes until Bern conquered Vaud in 1536 and introduced the Reformation. Its Gothic cathedral was consecrated in 1275, and the city is now home to the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland and the International Olympic Committee.
