Coutances
Coutances is a town in the Cotentin peninsula of Normandy, France. In Roman times, as Cosedia, it became the chief town of the Gallic Unelli, and it was renamed Constantia in late antiquity, a name that also gave the Cotentin its name. It has been the seat of a bishopric since the late 5th century, and its Gothic cathedral is one of the finest in Normandy.
