Culchas

fl. 206–197 BCE · 3rd century BCE · Also known as Colichas

Culchas was a ruler in southern Spain during and after the Second Punic War. Livy records that in 206 BCE he controlled 28 towns and supplied troops to Scipio against the Carthaginians. After Rome organised its Spanish provinces, he joined the great rebellion of 197 BCE, when he still held 17 towns, one of several Iberian revolts that opened the long Roman wars in Spain.
