Sierra Morena
The Sierra Morena is a mountain range in southern Spain separating the central plateau from the Guadalquivir valley. Rich in silver, lead and copper, its mines were worked by Iberian peoples and later by Carthage and Rome, and towns such as Castulo grew wealthy from them. Its silver helped pay for the Barcid armies in the Second Punic War.
