Daniel Salamanca
Daniel Salamanca was president of Bolivia from 1931 to 1934. Amid the economic crisis of the Great Depression, he pursued a hard line over the disputed Chaco region and in 1932 led Bolivia into the Chaco War with Paraguay. After a series of defeats and bitter quarrels with his commanders, he was arrested by army officers at Villamontes in November 1934 and forced to resign.
