Institution
Da'wa
The da'wa ('summons' or 'mission') was the missionary and propaganda organisation of Ismaili Islam. Under the Fatimid Caliphate it was a hierarchical institution that spread Ismaili doctrine and loyalty to the imam-caliph across the Islamic world, playing a central role in the dynasty's rise in North Africa and in its governance. Divisions within the movement later contributed to the caliphate's weakening.
