Institution
Da'i
A da'i, meaning "summoner", was a missionary and propagandist of the Ismaili movement. Da'is spread the Ismaili cause clandestinely across the Islamic world, and the da'i Abu Abdallah al-Shi'i won over the Kutama Berbers who brought the Fatimids to power. The organised da'wa network remained a key institution of the Fatimid Caliphate.
