Abu Abdallah al-Shi'i
Abu Abdallah al-Shi'i was an Ismaili missionary who converted and organised the Kutama Berbers of what is now Algeria in the late ninth century. Leading them in war, he overthrew the Aghlabid dynasty of Ifriqiya. His campaign prepared the way for Abdallah al-Mahdi Billah to be proclaimed caliph, making him a key figure in the foundation of the Fatimid Caliphate.
