Demetrius the Fair

d. c. 250 BCE · 3rd century BCE

Demetrius the Fair was a Macedonian prince, son of Demetrius I Poliorcetes and half-brother of Antigonus II Gonatas. After the death of Magas of Cyrene around 250 BCE, the widowed queen Apama invited him to marry her daughter Berenice and rule Cyrene, undoing Magas's plan to reunite it with Ptolemaic Egypt. He became Apama's lover, and Berenice had him killed.
