Apama (wife of Magas)

3rd century BCE · 3rd century BCE

Apama was a daughter of the Seleucid king Antiochus I who married Magas, ruler of Cyrene, and drew him into the Seleucid alliance against Ptolemy II. After Magas died, around 250 BCE, she opposed the planned marriage of their daughter Berenice to the future Ptolemy III and invited Demetrius the Fair to marry Berenice instead, but Berenice had him killed.
