Dewan Rakyat

Also known as House of Representatives of Malaysia

The Dewan Rakyat ('House of the People') is the lower house of the Parliament of Malaysia, with 222 members elected for up to five years from single-member constituencies. The prime minister must command its confidence, and it passes legislation and the budget, while the appointed upper house, the Dewan Negara, can only delay bills.
