Dexippus

c. 210–273 · 3rd century · Also known as Publius Herennius Dexippus

Dexippus was an Athenian statesman and historian of the 3rd century. He is said to have led the defence of Athens against the Heruli in 267, and he wrote a chronicle of world history and the Scythica, an account of the Gothic wars. These survive only in fragments, including his record of the Juthungi envoys' negotiations with Emperor Aurelian.
