Semnones

The Semnones were a Germanic people living between the Elbe and the Oder in the 1st and 2nd centuries CE. Tacitus called them the oldest and noblest of the Suebi and described the human sacrifices held in their sacred grove. They are thought to have formed the core of the later Alamanni and Juthungi.
